A Very Strong El Niño Seems to be Developing
According to the latest ocean observation data, there has been a significant temperature rise in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific over the past two to three months, reflecting a gradually increasing chance of a “Very Strong El Niño” developing. El Niño’s intensity is expected to peak between November and December this year, and it will persist at least until early next year. (More……)
New Names for Tropical Cyclones in 2026
In 2026, nine new names have been introduced to the list of tropical cyclone names in the western North Pacific and the South China Sea. According to convention, the Typhoon Committee will consider retiring the names of tropical cyclones that have caused serious casualties and economic losses. (More……)
