Observatory's Enhanced Lightning Location Information System becomes operational
The Observatory's Lightning Location Information System has been enhanced with new computer hardware and software. The system has undergone trial run and optimization during the past year.
Observatory launches trial "Extended Outlook" forecast service
The Hong Kong Observatory launched the trial version of the Extended Outlook forecast service today (June 29) to provide probability forecasts of daily minimum and maximum temperatures for the next 14 days.
New names adopted for tropical cyclones in 2017
In 2017, four new names have been added to the list of tropical cyclone names in the western North Pacific and the South China Sea.
