"Valley winds" are winds that flow uphill when air near the ground is heated up by insolation in mountainous region. Air rises as a result of thermal expansion, and clouds may form by condensation of water vapour during the rise. The satellite imagery animation shows formation of clouds over the volcanoes on Java Island of Indonesia in the daytime of 6 June 2017. (The imageries were captured by Himawari-8 satellite of Japan Meteorological Agency)
