The Observatory signs plan for cooperation with Shanghai Meteorological Service

On 17 April 2025, Dr Chan Pak-wai, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, and Mr Feng Lei, Director-General of the Shanghai Meteorological Service (SMS), signed an updated Plan for Cooperation in Meteorology and Technology, in Shanghai. Areas for enhanced exchanges and cooperation include multi-hazard early warnings, short-term weather forecasting and nowcasting, aviation meteorology, disaster prevention and mitigation, thus fostering the development of modern meteorological services and operations in mega cities.
