Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Sea Level Centre Established

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GD-HK-MC GBA) Sea Level Centre was jointly set up by the National Marine Data and Information Service (NMDIS), the Hong Kong Observatory and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) on 16 April 2025. Dr Chan Pak-wai, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, and Ms Lam Ching-chi, Senior Scientific Officer, attended the Unveiling Ceremony of the Sea Level Centre and discussion meeting held in Tianjin, China. The centre promotes technological innovation and cooperative research on sea level rise and alerts regarding related risks, and enhances information and data sharing, cultivates talents, and improves the ability to respond to climate change in marine areas, contributing to the sustainable development of the Greater Bay Area.
