Online Video Course on Tropical Cyclones

Terence Kung Wing-hang

Since its launch at the beginning of the year, the Observatory’s “Online Video Course on Tropical Cyclones” has been well received, with the number of views now approaching 40,000. The latest three episodes of the course explain how we use computer models to forecast the tracks and intensities of tropical cyclones, as well as uncertainties in the forecasts. In addition, the effects and hazards tropical cyclones bring to Hong Kong – including high winds, heavy rains, high temperatures, thunderstorms, and storm surges – are explained. All six episodes of the course have been launched. Please watch them on the Observatory’s website and the Observatory's YouTube channel (in Cantonese).
