The 15th National Games, and the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympics Games successfully concluded at the end of 2025. The Observatory fully supported these two major events, providing round-the-clock weather monitoring and forecasting services for various events.
The Observatory maintained close contact with the National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong), tailoring specialised and refined meteorological information according to the different technical requirements of each event, supporting the formulation of contingency plans for adverse weather, and establishing communication mechanisms. The Observatory’s Forecasting Office closely monitored and assessed weather changes during each event – especially considering the potential impact on outdoor events, so early preparations could be made for any adverse weather conditions.
The Observatory also utilised microclimate stations located in the urban area to provide city-scale meteorological observations near different venues and road sections, supporting fine-scale weather forecasts for relevant events.
