Radiation Tidbits - How weather affects the ambient radiation level in Hong Kong

- (1)What is ambient radiation level ?
Ambient radiation means the radiation surrounding us. It comprises natural radiation and man-made radiation. The Hong Kong Observatory has been measuring the ambient radiation level in Hong Kong since 1987 and results indicate that there has been no measurable increase in the ambient radiation due to man-made radiation. However, under certain weather conditions, there may be short-term variations of the ambient radiation level in Hong Kong due to natural radiation.
The Observatory's Radiation Monitoring Network consists of 10 fixed stations which continuously monitor the ambient radiation level in Hong Kong.
