Corporate social responsibility is fundamental to the Observatory's culture and core value. Not only is it engraved in our Vision, Mission and Value (VMV) statements, we also put it into action to ensure that we perform with a high level of ethics, provide services that bring benefits to the community, look after the well-being of our employees, preserve the natural environment and uphold the historical heritage of the Observatory. |
We are committed to equal opportunities in employment. We operate special services that cater for the underprivileged and the disabled. We make use of the service of people with disabilities and people on psychiatric rehabilitation to help the less fortunate. We run a "Happy Business" programme to promote work life balance amongst our colleagues so that they can derive happiness from their work and serve in a happy mood. We have a team of volunteers who carry out voluntary services during their spare time to help the aged and needed people. We respect the environment and maintain an Environmental Policy to ensure that the environment and the heritage are conserved. To establish a good Indoor Air Quality ("IAQ") management practice, all of our eligible premises have joined the IAQ Certification Scheme and had their IAQ assessed regularly. We have over 10,000 members of "Friends of the Observatory" who regularly take part in the activities we organize for them. We conduct a variety of outreach and public education activities to enrich people's quality of life. We have a dedicated team of over 25 speakers to raise people's awareness towards the impact of climate change. We benefit from the suggestions of a group of advisors who are experts in different fields to ensure that our services meet the expectations of the community. We also set out the standard of service which one can expect in our performance pledge. |
