Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. Areas of intense thundery showers associated with a broad trough of low pressure affected Guangdong yesterday. Locally, it was mainly cloudy with showers and squally thunderstorms yesterday. Showers were heavy in the morning and at night. More than 40 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over many places, and rainfall even exceeded 60 millimetres over Cheung Chau, Central and Western District and parts of the New Territories. The broad trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the coast of southern China in the next couple of days. There will be heavy showers and squally thunderstorms over the region. At 11 p.m. last night, the tropical depression over the East China Sea was centred about 480 kilometres southwest of Kagoshima. It is forecast to move east-northeast at about 45 kilometres per hour towards the seas south of Japan. Weather forecast for Hong Kong Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times. Temperatures will range between 25 and 30 degrees. Moderate southwesterly winds. Outlook : Occasional showers and squally thunderstorms in the following couple of days. Showers will be heavy at times. Showers will ease off gradually midweek this week.
