The nineteenth issue of Online Quiz Games - Radiation Monitoring and Assessment
30 November 2015
Radiation is naturally present everywhere. Most of the radiation we receive in daily life come from natural origins, while the rest is mainly artificial radiation from medical sources.
The Hong Kong Observatory is continuously monitoring the ambient radiation level in Hong Kong through a radiation monitoring network comprising 12 monitoring stations. This measurement service has been recently awarded with ISO 9001 accreditation, signifying its quality management practices meeting the international standard. In addition, regular measurements of radioactivity are conducted for samples of air, water, food, soil, etc. In the unlikely event of a nuclear incident, the Observatory will also help assess the possible radiological impact on Hong Kong.
How much do you know about the Observatory's work on radiation monitoring and assessment? Please come and join this issue of quiz games! It will end on 13 December.
