Enhancements to Computer Forecast Weather Map

The Hong Kong Observatory enhanced its Computer Forecast Weather Map on its website today (5 April 2012). More detailed information on the predicted cloud cover and rainfall amount is now provided on the enhanced forecast surface weather map, which replaces the old version that indicates the broad location of the cloud and rain areas only. Latitude and longitude grid lines are now added to all forecast weather maps to aid the users easily identify the location of weather systems.

The Computer Forecast Weather Map is a computer-generated product based on the outputs of the high-resolution numerical weather prediction models operated by the Observatory. It provides prediction of the evolution of weather patterns over East Asia and the western North Pacific up to 3 days ahead. Members of the public are welcome to get access to the enhanced weather maps at http://www.hko.gov.hk/nhm/nhme.htm.
