Launch of New Version 2.2 of "MyObservatory" for Android

8 April 2012

To enhance weather services for people on the move, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) launched a new version of "MyObservatory" today (17 April 2012) for the Android platform (version 2.2). The new version features two new services: provision of "Special Weather Tips" and display of two weather icons.

These two new services were first introduced on the HKO's website in this March. When the HKO expects severe weather to affect Hong Kong, the "Special Weather Tips" will be provided to enable the public to take prompt precautions. When significant change in weather is expected within the forecast period, HKO will issue two weather icons to enable members of the public to get hold of the weather changes more easily and clearly. Only one weather icon will be displayed if no significant weather change is expected.

The new version also comes with pamphlets on HKO's services for viewing on Android tablet devices.
