Hong Kong Observatory was commended for its contribution to the no-barrier service

Dr LEE Boon-ying, Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, received a plaque last Saturday (5 June) in recognition of the Observatory's contribution to the no-barrier service, which won the Best Public Service Application (Small Scale Project) Silver Award in the Hong Kong ICT Award 2009. The award-winning "3G Barrier-free Weather Hotline", jointly launched by the Observatory and Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, provides a brand-new service to enable the hearing-impaired to have a video feed of updated weather information for display on their mobile phones.
