Education Package on Climate Change

30 January 2019

The Hong Kong Observatory collaborated with the Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre to compile "Geography E-learning Package about Climate Change" with a view to enhancing teachers and students' awareness on climate change and its impacts and debunking some common climate myths as well.

Consolidating the latest scientific information, the education package is compiled based on the latest version of Geography Curriculum and Assessment Guide (Secondary 4-6) published by the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau. The package comprises a teaching kit, a mobile application about climate change and a board game learning set.

Through diverse teaching materials and e-resources, the education package facilitates the interaction between teaching and learning, raises students' interest in learning and hence the effectiveness of the curriculum, and enhances students' understanding of the importance of environmental conservation and public awareness on climate change.

At the launch seminar of the education package on 29 January 2019, Mr Lee Sai-ming, Senior Scientific Officer of the Observatory, delivered a talk titled "Climate change – What does it have to do with me?" and introduced the latest situation of climate change and its impacts.

The teaching kit is now available at the Hong Kong Observatory website
