Weather Information for Astronomical Observation webpage officially in service

29 July 2015

If you are making plans for astronomical observation this summer, the best season for such activities, make sure you check out the "Weather Information for Astronomical Observation" webpage (http://www.hko.gov.hk/gts/astronomy/astro_portal.html) which has been officially put into service today (29 July 2015).

The Perseid Meteor Shower, associated with Comet Swift-Tuttle, is among the most spectacular meteor showers during the year and it annual maximum typically occurs around 12 - 13 August. Under favourable observing conditions, as many as 100 meteors per hour can be observed.

Before you set off in search of the stars, do visit the "Weather Information for Astronomical Observation" webpage for the latest weather conditions at the astronomical observation hot spots in Hong Kong.
