The "MyObservatory" won Top 10 Healthy Mobile Phone/Tablet Apps in 2011

The "MyObservatory" won " Top 10 Healthy Mobile Phone/Tablet Apps " in 2011. The competition was organized by the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority. The prize on "Top 10 Healthy Mobile Phone/Tablet Apps" was newly introduced in 2011. It aims to encourage the use of apps with healthy, practical and educational content with a view to promoting the "Healthy Information, Healthy Mind" culture. During the nomination period, more than 700 nominations involving a total of 335 apps were received, which cover a wide range of applications.

The nominations were made by the public online and accepted by a judging panel. Assessment of the nominations was made based on various factors such as the degree of promoting the development of a healthy mind, educational value, practical value, creativity and value for money.

As smartphones are getting more and more popular, the Hong Kong Observatory launched the personalized weather service, "MyObservatory", in early 2010 to provide location-specific weather information for people on the move in a real-time manner. The "MyObservatory" has been well-received and the total number of page views reached 1.9 billion in 2011.
