A Virtual Tour to The World's First LIDAR at The Airport

...... To interpret the LIDAR image, cold colours (e.g. green) represent winds blowing towards the LIDAR while warm colours (e.g. brown) represent winds blowing away from it. The convergence between the sea breeze and the background winds can be seen on the left hand side of the figure where the green and brown colours meet. Indeed, an aircraft landing the airport from the west around that time reported encounter of windshear, in good agreement with the LIDAR observations.
