More Observatory’s datasets released on Government Open Data Portal and Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) portal (2026)

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) has been releasing weather data in machine-readable format on its website since 2012.  The data are also available on the Open Data Portal (DATA.GOV.HK) and CSDI portal (PORTAL.CSDI.GOV.HK).  With a view to opening up more data for free use by the public, HKO released 3 new datasets today (25 June 2026):

• Daily total cloud-to-cloud lightning count over Hong Kong territory (Open Data/ CSDI)
• Daily total cloud-to-ground lightning count over Hong Kong territory  (Open Data/ CSDI)
• Monthly total potential evapotranspiration (Open Data/ CSDI)
