Educational Package on Climate Change Version 2.0

10 March 2026

Following the successful collaboration in compiling the "Geography E-learning Package about Climate Change" in 2019, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre (sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) have once again worked together to release an updated edition, titled "Geography E-learning Package about Climate Change" Version 2.0, in early 2026. This updated package aims to raise awareness of climate change among teachers and students, equip them with the most up-to-date scientific evidence, and provide them with an accurate understanding and in-depth knowledge of the subject.

The updated edition aligns with the latest Geography Curriculum and Assessment Guide (Secondary 4-6) issued by the Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau. It incorporates the findings from the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, along with the latest local and global observational data on climate change from the Hong Kong Observatory and other meteorological organizations. These findings are also illustrated through concrete real-world examples.

In addition to a booklet, the project encompasses a VR Escape Game, a digital board game, and a fieldwork data collection system. These diverse teaching materials and digital resources seek to inspire students’ motivation to learn, promote interactive teaching and learning processes, and enhance overall teaching and learning effectiveness.

Ms. Chan Man Yee, Chief Experimental Officer of the Observatory, also delivered a presentation titled “Climate Change: A Planet Out of Equilibrium” during the teachers’ seminar introducing the updated e-learning package in October 2025. In her talk, she explained the current state of climate change and its associated impacts, providing participants with a deeper insight into the topic.

The educational package version 2.0 is now available online at the following locations:
