On 8 February 2024, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) added real-time weather photos of Cheung Sha to its website. This new addition aims to help the public gain a better understanding of the latest weather conditions in South Lantau and assist them in planning their daily activities accordingly.
The two newly installed cameras provide wide coverage, capturing popular hiking and paragliding spots including the Lantau Peak, Pak Kung Au and Sunset Peak. Residents and visitors in South Lantau can now closely observe the weather conditions at these locations through the real-time photos.
Members of the public can view the weather photos on the HKO’s "Regional Weather in Hong Kong" webpage and the "Weather Information for Aviation Sports".The "MyObservatory" mobile application will also include the real-time weather photos from Cheung Sha in the future update.
