The Observatory launches "Online Video Course on Weather Observation"

The Public Course on Weather Observation organised by the Hong Kong Observatory has been well received over the years. There were more than 1,000 applicants last year, but only a hundred something participants could be accommodated due to limited seats. In view of the popularity of online learning recently, we launched free “Online Video Course on Weather Observation” for the first time. The course will explain concisely the basic weather observation methods and techniques, such as identification of different types of clouds, understanding of various weather phenomena and hazards, interpretation of weather charts, and the use of “MyObservatory” mobile app in rainy weather.

The first video launched today (6 May 2020) will briefly introduce cloud classification and observation, starting from the low cloud type. Different topics will be discussed in the episodes which follow. Please stay tuned to our news on the release of new course videos!
