South China Coastal Waters

By the Hong Kong Observatory at 7:45 p.m. on 11 Aug 2025 

Weather Situation:
A southerly airstream is affecting the south China coastal
waters. Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Podul will intensify
gradually and move westwards in the general direction of the
vicinity of Taiwan. Its associated unsettled weather will
affect Guangdong in the middle and latter parts of this
week.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
Southwest force 4.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
South to southwest force 4, occasionally force 5.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate seas.

South of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao:
South force 4, occasionally force 5.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate seas.

Outlook for the following 48 hours 
South to southwesterly winds of force 4, occasionally force
5, up to force 12 in east later. Frequent heavy squally
showers and thunderstorms.
