Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and
Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters.
Weather Situation:
The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal
waters.
Tropical Storm Koto has intensified into a severe tropical
storm.
At 3 p.m., Koto with maximum sustained winds of about 90
kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 12.6
degrees north, 116.4 degrees east. It is forecast to move
west or west-northwest at about 15 kilometres per hour
across the southern part of the South China Sea.

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
Northeast force 4 to 5, becoming north up to force 7.
Moderate seas, becoming rough.
Nan'ao and Shanwei:
North to northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.
Rough to very rough seas.
South of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao:
North to northeast force 6 to 7, up to force 8 later.
Rough seas, becoming very rough later.
Outlook for the following 48 hours
North to northeasterly winds of force 6 to 7, up to force 8
at first, becoming easterly winds of up to force 7 later.
