The Observatory’s “Radiation and Upper-air Meteorological Measurement Services” and “Automatic Wind Measurement Services for the operation of the Tropical Cyclone Warning Services in Hong Kong” are both certified to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
The Director of the Observatory, Mr Shun Chi-ming, received ISO certificates from the SGS Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters on 30 January. The Observatory is recognized for the provision of professional and high quality services in radiation and upper-air meteorological measurements as well as the maintenance of automatic wind stations (in particular the reference anemometer stations for the operation of the tropical cyclone warning system) throughout the years. Following aviation weather services, radiation measurement services1, ambient gamma radiation level measurement service, as well as weather forecasting and warning services, it is another round for the Observatory to receive ISO certification. The Observatory will continue to strive to meet the quality certification requirements in different areas of its operation.
Note1: The recently awarded "Radiation and Upper-air Meteorological Measurement Services" combines the existing radiation measurement services with the newly added upper-air meteorological measurement services.
