  • Curtain raises for ‘AI Data Wizard’

Following last year’s very well received activity ‘AI Challenge – Weather Forecast Competition’, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) joined hands with Hong Kong Education City, Microsoft Hong Kong Co. Ltd., Civil Engineering and Development Department and Hong Kong Meteorological Society to organise the ‘AI Data Wizard - How Many Landslides?’ competition this year. Participants from secondary schools will estimate the number of landslides in selected time period by utilizing various data and different machine learning platforms.

The competition is one of the activities of Master Code 2019. Director of the HKO, Mr. C. M. Shun, attended the Opening Ceremony on 28 June 2019. Dr. David H. Y. Lam, Scientific Officer of the Observatory, presented the statistics of rainstorm and landslip warnings in a workshop after the ceremony.
