The Deputy Director of the Radar Operation Division of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), Dr. Bongjae Kuk, led a 3-member delegation to visit the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) on 9-10 May 2019. During the visit, HKO colleagues introduced the operation of Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) in Hong Kong as well as the technical details of HKO’s windshear and turbulence alerting service.
To promote knowledge exchange, Dr. Kuk delivered a talk to share KMA’s experiences in maintaining their radar network and their future plan of upgrading the radar equipment. The KMA delegation also took the opportunity to visit HKO’s TDWR station at Brothers Point (BP) to learn more about the various facilities installed at the station to support TDWR operation.
