Backward Trajectory Map in August 2015

Wednesday, 16th September 2015

The trajectory map showed that for several days in August, the air masses reaching Hong Kong originated from the north in the presence of tropical cyclones Soudelor and Goni. In particular, a subsiding continental airstream ahead of Soudelor brought anomalously hot weather to Hong Kong on 8 August, with temperature at the Observatory climbing to a maximum of 36.3 degrees, an all-time high since records began in 1884.
