New services on Hong Kong Observatory website
(6 May 2008)
Two new services, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and Weather Wizard, were launched today (May 6) on the HKO website. The websites are: http://rss.weather.gov.hk/rsse.html and http://www.weather.gov.hk/en/wxinfo/wxwizard/wxwizard.htm . After subscribing to the HKO RSS service, updated weather news of their choice as well as current weather conditions will be sent to the users' PCs via Internet. This automatic delivery of the latest weather information will enable users to remain focussed on their work without the worry of inadvertently missing out on any significant weather news. The Weather Wizard gadget is a programme for installation on user computers. The latest hourly temperature/relative humidity readings and weather warnings from the HKO website will be displayed automatically on the "Taskbar" normally at the bottom of the computer screen. Users who have tried both products said the services were very handy and helped them track the latest weather information while they were busy working at their PC. The weather information is useful in planning and making decisions for both work and leisure activities. Webpage for subscribing to HKO RSS services |
