"Science in the Public Service" won 2nd runner-up of "Partnership Award" in civil service award scheme

The "Science in the Public Service" campaign jointly organised by various government departments won the second-runner up in the "Partnership Award" in the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2007. The award was presented today (September 13) by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang.

The award aims to recognise departments that have succeeded in achieving notable service enhancement through collaboration with others. The Hong Kong Observatory is honoured to be the co-ordinating department of the joint campaign.

The Chairman of the "Science in the Public Service" campaign and Assistant Director of the Observatory, Dr Lee Boon-ying, said at the prize presentation ceremony, "The campaign was the result of the dedication and unreserved contributions by a number of departments and organisations. This award signifies the recognisation of our joint efforts in serving the public. In the future, we will continue to be citizen-centric and strive to improve public service with the application of science and technology."

The "Science in the Public Service" campaign is jointly organised by a number of government departments to showcase their scientific work and the application of science and technology in providing public services. The campaign was inaugurated in early 2006. The number of campaign partners has since increased to 43, including government bureaus and departments and other collaborating organisations.
