Very Hot Weather Warning

Under a ridge of high pressure, the weather remained very hot today (28 July, Saturday) with abundant sunshine. The Observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees in the afternoon, the highest so far this year. The temperature at Sheung Shui rose even higher to 36 degrees. The Very Hot Weather Warning remains in force.

The weather in Hong Kong is forecast to continue to be very hot tomorrow with a maximum temperature of about 33 degrees in the urban area and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. The public are advised that the risk of heatstroke is high.

Members of the public who need to work outdoors or engage in outdoor activities tomorrow should drink plenty of water and avoid over exertion. If not feeling well, take a rest in the shade or cooler place as soon as possible. Avoid prolonged exposure under sunlight. Loose clothing, suitable hats and UV-absorbing sunglasses can reduce the chance of sunburn by solar ultraviolet radiation.
