Public reminded to take flood preventive measures during high tides

Public reminded to take flood preventive measures during high tides
(28 February 2006)

Under the combined effect of high tide and strong monsoon, flooding occurred in some parts of Hong Kong yesterday (February 27). Hong Kong Observatory forecasts that high tide will occur again tonight (February 28), which will also coincide with the persistent strong monsoon, resulting in a rise in sea level similar to the situation yesterday.

The Drainage Services Department (DSD) advises that residents
living in low-lying areas near the sea will be subject to slight flooding due to seawater back flow as a result of this rise in sea level. Residents in these areas should take necessary precautions as soon as possible in order to minimize losses.
