Hong Kong Observatory provides training on Meteorology for the Media for the First Time (31 August 2005)

About 20 reporters from newspapers as well as television and radio stations attended a course "Meteorology for the Media" organized by the Hong Kong Observatory on 26 and 31 August 2005 respectively.

This is the first training course organized by the Observatory for reporters. The training course aims at enhancing the reporters' meteorological knowledge to facilitate accurate reporting of weather events by the media.

A participant of the training course said, "I am glad to join the meteorological training course organized by the Observatory. The course material is useful and practical. The Observatory professionals have taken care to design a course to meet our specific operational needs."

Senior Scientific Officer of the Observatory and one of the lecturers, Mr Chan Chik-cheung said the course provided an excellent opportunity for the Observatory to share experiences and exchange ideas with reporters. It also enabled the two sides to understand each others' needs. I think we share the common goal of delivering accurate and informative reports to the general public.
