The Very Hot Weather on 20 July 2005 (20 July 2005)
Under the influence of the subsiding air associated with Tropical Depression Haitang, the weather continued to be fine and very hot over southern China today. Locally, temperatures generally rose to about 34 degrees over the urban areas and over 36 degrees in most parts of the New Territories. The maximum temperature recorded at the Observatory this afternoon was 34.4 degrees, which was one degree lower than the maximum temperature yesterday. A map showing the maximum temperatures over various parts of Hong Kong today is given in the figure below.
