Total lunar eclipse on 5 May, 2004 (27 April 2004)
A total lunar eclipse will occur on May 5, 2004 (Wednesday). If weather permits, the event will be visible in Hong Kong that morning.
The total eclipse will occur between 3:52 a.m. and 5:08 a.m. On the day of the eclipse, the moon will set at 5:53 a.m., after total eclipse ends but before the moon leaves umbra. Please refer to the attached diagram for the path of the moon during the eclipse.

The vantage points to observe the lunar eclipse will be those with unobstructed view to the west-southwest such as Stanley, Tuen Mun, Lamma Island, Cheung Chau, Tai O, Tai Mo Shan, etc.
The next lunar eclipse observable in Hong Kong will occur on 24 April, 2005 and it will be a penumbral eclipse.
