Haze on 2 November 2003 (2 November 2003)

It was hazy in Hong Kong today (Sunday, 2 November 2003). The visibility inside the Victoria Harbour fell below 2000 metres this morning. About 700 metres was registered at Urmston Road around noon.

Light northerly winds prevailed in the vicinity of Hong Kong today, with the combined effect of Severe Tropical Storm Melor over the Luzon Strait, the atmosphere was quite stable. Under this condition, suspended particulates in the air could not be easily dispersed, resulting in low visibility over the territory.
