Strong winds persist over the waters in the western part of Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Observatory reminds the public that strong winds are still forecast for the waters in the western part of the territory (including Cheung Chau, Ping Chau) and the Pearl River Estuary today (24 July 2003) and at first tomorrow (25 July 2003) (Please refer to the attached figure for the wind distribution over Hong Kong at 5:00 p.m. today). Members of the public in the region should not relax in taking precautions against strong winds. As seas are very rough with swells, the public should continue to stay away from the shoreline and it is not suitable to engage in water sports.

The Hong Kong Observatory cancelled the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 12:40 p.m. today (24 July 2003), indicating that strong winds no longer affected the Victoria Harbour only.
