Cold Snap On Its Way

Cold Snap On Its Way (24 December 2002)

The anticyclone over China is intensifying. An intense winter monsoon will bring the mass of cold air now piling up over northern Guangdong to the south China coastal region tomorrow night (Wednesday, 25 December 2002). Winds in Hong Kong will then strengthen from the north and temperatures will start to fall significantly. Temperatures will even fall below 10 degrees on Thursday and Friday.

Overcast and rainy weather will accompany the winter monsoon to affect Hong Kong. Under such wintry and windy conditions, the feeling of coldness will be particular strong. The Hong Kong Observatory reminds the public to prepare for the cold weather, such as making ready warm clothing, checking heating devices and to take steps to protect themselves and their family against cold weather.
