The 2002 Leonid Meteor Shower
The The 2002 Leonid Meteor Shower (13 November 2002)
Leonid meteor shower occurs around 14 to 21 November every year. In 2002, the peak activity is expected to occur at around 6-7 p.m. on 19 November Hong Kong Time and it may be possible to observe a few hundred meteors during this period. The best place for observation will be in rural areas or on high grounds with least artificial lighting and no obstruction of sight to the east such as Shek O, Sai Kung, Tai Mei Tuk etc. Interested observers may consider observing the Leonid Meteor Shower a few days before and after the predicted peak activity. Some points to note for observation are: (a) Whether the event is observable or not will depend on weather situation and the actual number of meteors. (b) For your own safety, avoid going to far remote areas for observation. Please refer to the Hong Kong Observatory website for detailed information of the Leonid Meteor Shower: |
