It was hazy in Hong Kong today (Friday, 6 September 2002). The visibility inside the Victoria Harbour fell below 2000 metres this morning. A low of about 900 metres was registered at Ma Wan around noon.

Under the combined effect of the anticyclone over China and Typhoon Sinlaku over the East China Sea, light northerly winds prevailed in the vicinity of Hong Kong this morning and the atmosphere was stable. Under this condition, suspended particulates in the air could not be easily dispersed, resulting in low visibility over the territory.
