Very Hot Weather Will Presist in the Next Couple of Days (24 June 2002)
A ridge of high pressure extended westwards from the Pacific and brought fine weather to southeastern China. Locally, there was prolonged sunshine today (24 June 2002) and the afternoon temperature at the Observatory rose to 33.1 degrees, the highest so far this year. The maximum temperature at Tai Po even reached 34.9 degrees. As the ridge of high pressure will dominate over southeastern China in the next couple of days, fine and very hot weather will persist over Hong Kong. Members of the public should be on the alert that the risk of heatstroke is high. Maximum temperatures at other places in Hong Kong today were as follows:
