Regional rainfall information every hour by the Hong Kong Observatory

With effect from 1 April 2002, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) will provide regional rainfall information in its hourly weather bulletins available through the Information Services Department and the HKO web sites.

When the rainfall reaches 1 mm, the reading from the raingauge with the maximum rainfall in each region will be summarized in the bulletin. Appendix 1 shows the 16 regions over the territory for reporting regional rainfall. A sample of the hourly weather bulletin with rainfall information is given in Appendix 2.

This service aims to facilitate the dissemination of hourly regional rainfall information by the media to the public. The public may also browse graphical rainfall maps available on the HKO web sites at :
