Cold Weather On Its Way - (12 December 2001)

A cold front has formed over northern Guangdong and started moving southwards gradually. The mass of cold air north of Guangdong will bring cold weather to southern China in the next couple of days.

Winds in Hong Kong will strengthen from the north tomorrow (13 December, Thursday). It will become cooler later, with temperatures down to about 16 degrees in the urban area in the evening. It will be cold on Friday (14 December) and temperatures are expected to drop below 12 degrees over parts of the territory.

The Hong Kong Observatory reminds the public to take note of the weather changes and to prepare for the cold weather, such as making ready warm clothing, checking heating devices and to take steps to protect themselves against cold weather.
