Hong Kong Observatory Almanac 2002" is now on sale (12 November 2001)
The "Hong Kong Observatory Almanac 2002" has been published. Astronomical and climatological information in the Almanac can also be found on the Hong Kong Observatory home page at: http://www.weather.gov.hk/gts/astron2002/almanac_index_e.htm This bilingual booklet contains the traditional Chinese Calendar and times of daily sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, high and low tides, arranged on a month-by-month basis. The times of meridian passage, rising and setting of the planets are graphically illustrated in this handy almanac. The duration of twilight, details of equinoxes, and solstices and eclipses in 2002 as well as climatological normals of Hong Kong and other selected major cities for each month of the year are also given in this publication. There will be five eclipses in 2002, two of the sun and three of the moon. Of these five eclipses, two eclipses of the moon and one eclipse of the sun will be visible in Hong Kong. The almanac is now on sale at HK$16 a copy at the Government Publications Centre and the Hong Kong Observatory Resource Centre. |
