Heavy Rain on 3 September 2001

Heavy rain necessitated the issuance of Amber and Red Rainstorm Warning Signals by the Hong Kong Observatory today (Monday, 3 September 2001).

The heavy rain was rather widespread and between 80 and 120 mm of rainfall were recorded over the urban areas, Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi. Please refer to the following the rainfall distribution map for Hong Kong today:

The effective times of the rainstorm warning signals issued on Monday 3 September 2001 are as follows:

       Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal

       2:40 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

       Red Rainstorm Warning Signal

      10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

       Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal

      12:15 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
