Observatory releases concentration of radioactive iodine detected in air samples in Hong Kong

In response to the development of the nuclear accident in Fukushima, Japan, the Observatory has since 14 March strengthened the monitoring of concentration of radioactive substances in the air. The frequency of sample collection from the air sampler at King's Park and Yuen Ng Fan has increased from once weekly to once daily and sampling is made round-the-clock. The concentration of radioactive iodine-131 measured in air samples in Hong Kong, including the routine weekly readings of Sha Tau Kok, are available at the following web page:
