The Hong Kong Observatory's global solar radiation webpage gets updated

1 March 2009

The Hong Kong Observatory has updated the global solar radiation display within the regional weather homepage (http://www.weather.gov.hk/wxinfo/ts/display_element_solar_e.htm).

From 2nd March 2009, the unit of global solar radiation will be changed from the 1-minute total solar energy expressed in kilojoules per square metre (kJ m-2) to the more commonly used 1-minute average solar radiant power expressed in watts per square metre (W m-2).

To convert between the two units:

X W m-2 (the current unit) = X x 60 ? 1000 kJ m-2 (the original unit)
