Launch of Data Collection or Production Centre for World Weather Information Service for the Public

The "Data Collection or Production Centre" (DCPC), operated by the Hong Kong Observatory for the World Weather Information Service (WWIS) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) at http://dcpc.worldweather.org, is now open for public access (Figure 1). The WWIS at http://worldweather.wmo.int serves as a centralized source on the Internet of the official weather forecasts and climatological information issued by members of WMO.

The DCPC provides online services to search and access the official weather forecasts and climatological information for cities around the world. Through the subscription service of DCPC, users can automatically receive weather information of their interest via RSS.

The official world city forecasts and climatological information encoded in standard JSON format are published by the DCPC to enable subsequent data exchange between computer systems.
