The Observatory launches the Sand and Dust Weather Information webpage

The Sand and Dust Weather Information webpage provides latest information and products for the monitoring of sand and dust weather. The webpage displays on a map the reports of sand and dust weather over East Asia in the past few days. This helps to understand the development and movement of the sand and dust weather. The webpage also provides satellite image products for discerning the possible regions affected by sand and dust weather. Another new product is the forecast trajectory which is useful for tracing the possible origin of air reaching Hong Kong in the next 2 to 3 days.

The webpage also introduces the formation and definition of sandstorm and duststorm, as well as their possible impacts to the weather of Hong Kong.
