Observatory's Website Hitting the 20 Billion Mark

The Observatory's website sets a new record in its usage rate. During the first three quarters of 2012, the number of page visits already exceeded 20 billion, which is more than three times the full year figure of 6.2 billion in 2011.

The Observatory has been enhancing its online weather information service from time to time to meet the ever-increasing needs of the public. In addition to providing real-time weather observation, forecasts and warnings, the Observatory website also features one-stop thematic webpages tailored for different groups such as the elderlies, children, fishermen, students, hikers, as well as for people engaging in aviation and water sports.

The Observatory is committed to developing personalized location-based weather services. While providing mobile websites to deliver online weather information service on mobile devices, the Observatory also develops the mobile application "MyObservatory" to provide personalized weather service and extends weather information services to social networking websites such as YouTube, Tudou, Twitter and Weibo.

The Observatory's online weather information service is widely recognized, winning a number of awards in information and communication technology. In early 2012, the Observatory website won the 2011 top 10 ".hk" website and the Observatory was awarded the gold prize for the corporate group. The mobile application "MyObservatory" also won the top 10 healthy mobile phone/tablets apps in 2011.
