Launch of New Version 3.1 of "MyObservatory" for iPhone

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) launched today (4 October 2011) a new version of "MyObservatory" for iPhone, providing enhanced weather services for people on the move. The new version 3.1 features the following new functions:
  • User selectable default screen to show local weather forecast or 7-day weather forecast;
  • Weather tips for weather warnings in force;
  • Display of weather warnings that are currently in force or have been in force earlier in the day;
  • Information on radiation;
  • Predicted tide charts; and
  • Links to HKO's Weibo account.

The personalized weather service "MyObservatory" has been well received with high popularity. The total number of page views has exceeded 1,300 million by the end of September 2011. With it, the Hong Kong Observatory won a Gold and a Silver award in two different categories respectively in the renowned Hong Kong Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Award 2011.
